The Website
It’s official! The launch of our new website that complements the Margaret River Find the Fun™ App!
This website is the latest resource that can be used to find lots of great things to see and do in the Margaret River Region. Simply go to our home page and start to find the fun. Listings are arranged by categories, just like they are in the App (screenshot below). The website is pretty straightforward and easy-to-use, so we won’t say too much more about it here, except that we’ll keep adding more great content in the coming week.
Any feedback on it is very welcome, so please drop us a note with your thoughts.
The App
If you haven’t heard of the App yet, then we’re delighted to tell you a bit about it. It’s quick, user-friendly and full of useful information about the Region. If you have an Android™ phone, then downloading the App is the recommended way to get all the great content. But more on that below.
We’ve developed a useful mobile App for Android phones and tablets, which is the only complete guide that will show you all of the best free stuff to see and do in the Margaret River Region, including Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River, Cowaramup, Augusta and all points in between.
And now that we have the free stuff on there, we’re focusing on getting local businesses to create a listing so that you will be able to find them as well. So the number of business listings will keep on growing.
The App has been available since late last year and is getting great reviews. Once it’s downloaded to your device, it basically works without the Internet. So it is fast, works in all those black spots and won’t use your valuable data.
We created it with the visitor in mind—which to us meant bringing as much useful information as we could find into one App. We dealt with only ourselves, so were not influenced by politics, agendas or paying customers. And the result is a product that we think is useful and very user-friendly not only to the visitor, but also to the local.
Which should you use?
This website is the newest addition to our ‘online guidebook’ platform. If you don’t have an Android smartphone, you can still find most of our great content on this website using your iPhone, iPad, laptop or desktop computer.
However, the website doesn’t work quite the same way as the App. The biggest difference is that you use the App without the internet, but you need the internet to use this website. Hence, if you have an Android device, we strongly urge you to download the App because it will give you the best experience.
The other advantages of the App are maps that you can use to find your way around. Particularly our hiking, mountain biking and road biking maps (none of these are on the website). When you activate your phone’s GPS, you will be able to see exactly where you are and where you need to go.
That’s pretty handy for finding the car after that tiring day hike, or not ending up on the wrong side of the Middle Earth mountain biking area as darkness descends.
The App is also incredibly fast to load and to use. Fact of life at the moment is that on mobile phones, websites are slower, bulkier and take longer to give you the information you need. Because the content of the App is all on your phone, it’s a self-contained guidebook and it’s speed is managed only by your phone, not by having to connect with satellites or network towers.
Finally, the App will show you where you are and will show you what is close by. You can see on the map where the closest map pins are to your location, or you can look at the category lists to see exactly how far away your next destination is.
We hope you enjoy using these guides to Find the Fun in the Margaret River Region!
