Overview
Formerly named the Rails to Trails, this track extends between Cowaramup, Margaret River, and Witchcliffe following an old railway line that once ran all the way from Busselton to Augusta and was used from 1924 to 1956 to transport timber. The surface is unpaved but excellent, and generally flat or with gentle gradients. It is suitable as a beginners-level mountain bike ride and for hiking. The part north of Margaret River trail crosses several bridges and watercourses and passes through many types of forest including jarrah and karri forest. South of Margaret River it meanders across scenic farmland.
