Overview
This 1.6 km long sand beach in Prevelly is surrounded by near continuous offshore reef. For swimming, it is best in the mornings before the south-westerly breeze comes up. A pontoon floats 40 m offshore in summer and it is a relatively safe beach under normal conditions. The exception being when shore-breaking waves over 1 meter can cause a rip to develop towards the southern rocks. It can be a good beginner beach for surfers, particularly in winter.
You can take a pleasant stroll along the beach or on the beach-side path. There is a large car park, a cafe, toilets (disabled/wheelchair accessible) and a good boat ramp. A dog exercise area extends along the northern half of the beach.
